Dare Foods Limited – our Nut Free/Peanut Free Policy

Dare prides itself on listening to – and focusing on – the needs of our consumers.  As a result, we know consumers are becoming increasingly concerned about foods that can cause severe adverse allergic reactions, especially in children.

How Dare became nut free/peanut free…
In order for Dare to provide our customers with great nut free/peanut free options, we have implemented a very stringent quality control process in all three of our Canadian manufacturing facilities involving:

• moving the manufacture of all products containing nuts/peanuts to outside facilities;
• putting our process and packaging equipment through a regular allergen cleaning procedure;
• working with our key suppliers to ensure they also have a stringent allergen management process; and
• ensuring that staff do not bring any nut/peanut products into the facilities.

With all Dare bakery manufacturing facilities now declared nut free/peanut free, we are also happy to announce that in addition to Bear Paws, we now provide Canadians with a wide range of products that are manufactured in our nut free/peanut free facilities. Our range includes:  Simple Pleasures, Viva Puffs and Ultimate* cookies, Breton crackers, Grissol fine breads and JuicedUp soft candies, among others. These products are easily identifiable with the statement “manufactured in a nut free/peanut free facility” appearing on the side panel of the package with the nutrition facts and ingredients list. Signage on store shelves will further help identify products manufactured in our nut free/peanut free facilities.  Several brands are designated “peanut free”, identified by our peanut free logo on the front of the package: Wagon Wheels, RealFruit, Bear Paws and Breton Minis.

Our policy is to declare all allergens on the package, with the ingredient list. We also place a “may contain” warning on the package, where there is risk. We advise customers to read the label every time.

Dare Foods is synonymous with quality and wholesome baked and confectionary goods and providing Canadians with brands they can trust. Our range of products manufactured in our nut free/peanut free facilities is just another way Dare Foods is responding to the changing needs of Canadians and living up to our name.
